There is plenty of information out there that covers Consult Forms and Write-ups but what about the bit in the middle? In this unique workshop, we will be helping to recharge your skills and confidence in your 1:2:1 training sessions. We’ve all had those “What now? I didn’t expect that” moments and with no one to turn to at that instant it can really throw you off your plan and create panic! This workshop is designed to give you some extra skills to help you through these moments and really boost your 1:2:1 power! We will be looking at some of those curveball cases which Lee has personally experienced and working together on solutions for extra scenarios. The day also includes an opportunity to get hands-on with dogs and refine your training when it comes to common issues.

Assistance Dog Training for physical and mental health disability, injury, and illness. This one-day workshop will cover the most important aspects of training dogs for assistance dog work. Focusing on:

• What the client wants and setting their expectations
• Your safety and boundaries

• Which dogs make the best assistance dogs
• The public access test and what it entails

Kirsten is a dog trainer and clinical behaviourist, specialising in training both assistance dogs and assistance dog trainers, for physical disability, but with a heavy focus on mental health. She is chair of trustees at The Assistance Dog Assessment Association (ADAA) and an assessor for DOG A.I.D. Assistance in Disability, determining assistance dogs’ suitability. Join Kirsten for a day of Practical Training Skills, Demonstrations and a run-through of the public access test.
